Why are influencing skills important?

Someone once said that you don’t get what you deserve in life, you get what you negotiate. Your power to influence, persuade, negotiate affects your level of happiness, health and wealth.

The influencing skills I want to share with you are really important because they are the kind that create a win for you and a win for the people around you. This is different from manipulation and selfishness.

Manipulation is when you use tactics such anger, placating, intimidation, sulking, distracting and lying to get what you want at the expense of someone else. You may ‘win a battle’ with these tactics but you won’t win the ‘war’.

When you use ethical, win-win influence you have the chance to create the best kind of personal and work relationships and the best kind of results.
